October 21st marked the start of the “Eighth National Week of Conciliation Services”, promoted by the system of chambers of commerce and in which the Chamber of Commerce of Lecco is also taking part.
Proceedings opened in the Orange Room of Lecco’s “Economics House” where, on the afternoon of Monday 4 October, a meeting was held on the subject of “Civil and commercial mediation: how to make better use of it” with talks by Alessandra Mascellaro, President of Adr Notariato Como – Lecco S.r.l., Nicola Giudice, Manager of the Conciliation Service of the Arbitration Chamber of Milan, Michele Sisto Carabellese, tax accountant, and Maria Giordano, Manager of the Chamber of Commerce’s Conciliation Service.
Since March 2011, when a reform of obligatory civil mediation was introduced by Legislative Decree 28/2010, Lombardy’s Chambers of Commerce have received over 1,300 requests for mediation.
Obligatory civil mediation, then, is at the centre of a wide-ranging debate amongst professionals and there are still many questions about its application and consequences; this has led to the opening of a useful dialogue on the subject and the need for further study.
So on 17 November a meeting will be held on the same subject, “Civil and commercial mediation: how to make better use of it” at the Chamber of Commerce of Como.
“We were invited to address an important round table with the Chambers of Commerce and the professions” – emphasises Alessandra Mascellaro, President of Adr Notariato Como – Lecco s.r.l. “The presentations of the various speakers and the following debate, which were open to the public, made clear the interest and awareness regarding this subject but also the need for the professions to respond more effectively to this important legislative innovation by making available the negotiating techniques acquired, but above all their own professional skills in their areas of expertise”.
On 26 October, within the framework of the “Eighth National Week of Conciliation Services” and once again in Lecco, technical-legal presentations were made by Notaries Piercarlo Colnaghi and Chiara Mariani, mediators and Members of the Board of Adr Notariato Como – Lecco S.r.l. who dealt respectively with “agreement, minuting and ratification in the mediation procedure” and the fiscal problems inherent in the mediation process.
